Why am I a designer?

I’ve been fascinated by design for a long time. I originally wanted to be a layout designer for a big national magazine, but chose to pursue dual degrees in web design and development instead. After completing my education at Seattle Central College, I began working at Microsoft as an Interaction Designer for the Windows Phone 7 project. I saw my coding and design work appearing on millions of smartphone devices made by HTC, LG, and Samsung within a few months. I was hooked.

My design principles originated from my work on the Metro design system for Microsoft. I worked as a full-stack developer for several companies in Utah before shifting back to user experience and product design in 2016 for American Airlines. Since that time, I’ve built a solid foundation in design thinking, product development, user research, and shipping products that deliver amazing results for customers and shareholders.
